Giovanni Savarese: Jeremy Ebobisse to return ‘hopefully’ vs. LAFC originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest
More help may be on the way for the Portland Timbers attack.
After Wednesday’s match, which saw the return of Timbers midfielder Dairon Asprilla, head coach Giovanni Savarese made it sound as if Jeremy Ebobisse’s return to the pitch isn’t far off either.
“Hopefully, Jebo will be ready for next game,” said Savarese.
Ebobisse has missed the Timbers’ last three games due to a concussion suffered against LAFC on October 18th from several collisions.
He also left that match due a left leg injury but has not appeared on the injury report with that designation, just the concussion.
“He’s done a great job like every player in this team,” said Savarese following the match againse LAFC. “I’m extremely proud of every player and the performance that everybody has put in and how much work they have put in to be able to be a strong team, a competitive team. And [Jeremy Ebobisse] definitely has been one of those players, like every other player, that has put a lot of work into it and he has shown well with goals. Credit to him, credit to the entire team because everyone is working very hard.”
When Jeremy Ebobisse stepped on the pitch that day, he made his 75th consecutive appearance across all competitions, the longest active streak in the MLS at the time. Since then, he has missed three games.
If he can return in time for the regular season finale, it will coincidentally be against LAFC on Sunday, November 8th at 3:30 p.m. PT on Decision Day.
